Best Pudding....EVER!!!!

Updated: Oct 6

With the first day of Autumn being today 22nd September. The Pimms and BBQs have been retired for another year and it’s time to bring out the heart warming comfort food.

My favourite fruit is Cherries and what better autumnal pudding is there than a crumble.

Pudding or dessert…now there’s a debate!! accorining to the Kensington School of Etiqute and Mannors

“A pudding usually is a dish of more homely or rustic. A dessert is lighter and more sophisticated, such as chocolate mousse. However, the word Dessert is rarely used by the British upper class. Some fine restaurants and private clubs would use Pudding to refer to the sweet course.”

With that cleared up......Now, In your very best marks and Spencer food advert, I’m making.....

Apple & Amaretto Soaked Cherries Flapjack Crumble.

The night before soak I pack of frozen cherries in amaretto.

I prefer using frozen as they are already pitted.

I’ll show you want to do with the left over amaretto Next week!

4/5 Medium cooking apples

150g Maple syrup. There is a lot of refined sugar in the topping so I’ve opted to use maple syrup to sweeten the apples.

Cook the apples till sofferened in the maple syrup. Then I layered my apples with cherries on top in the dish your going to bake in.

The Crumble part is so easy, courtsy of Good House Keeping Magazine & Mum for finding the recipe!

Ingredients

100g Demerra Sugar

100g Golden Syrup

100g Butter

150g Oats

50g Plain Flour

(I actually doubled up this as as we love crumble and flapjacks, so why wouldnt you!!)

Melt the butter syrup & sugar untill sugard disolveled on low heat (you'll know the sugar is dissolved when you stir with the spoon, you'll feel the grains on the saucepan.

Remove from heat and then add oats and flour, stir together and pop it on the top of your crumble

Bake for 180 on fan oven for 20/25 mins........and it really ius as easy as that!!
